I love Dr Amen's quote; "The war for your health is won or lost between your ears, in the moment-by-moment decisions your brain makes every day."

And from that decision, you will be creating your own personal reality one thought at a time. For this reason, it is important to have an optimized brain so you can take the best decisions rather than bursting out.

Episode One - The Brain Warrior’s Way

The first episode aired on November 19, 2016. In this episode, Dr Daniel Amen and Tana Amen give listeners a preview of what they can expect from the podcast. They also discuss how to use the Brain Warrior’s Way principles to improve your life.

This is one of my favourite podcasts, to the point and very relatable to what we are going through as a society. This is definitively a journey and a constant war as the world around us tries to put bad food in our mouths and negative images in our brains. Highly processed foods, pesticides, and high glycemic and low fiber foods are digging our graves little by little which most of us are oblivion to. Big corporations truly understand neuroscience and use tricks to hook our pleasure centers by entering our minds with toxic and negative images through various channels such as TV, tablets, game consoles, and cell phones. Why do you think Mcdonald's gives toys away with happy meals? To train our kids from such a young age by arousing that pleasure center, but they don't know better and we "adults" are completely oblivious.

We now have access to information but it is up to us to decide what to do with it. We know most of the food we eat is consuming our life away and we must fight back. Because if we don't, the long-term negative consequences will become more and more visible in the decades ahead. For example, Alzheimer's disease is expected to quadruple in the next 30 years and there is no cure on the horizon. But what people don't know is that Alzheimer's affects 50% of people 85 and older.

The good news is that we can change that by taking action today and becoming a personal brain warrior. By taking control of our health, we can decrease our chances of depression, diabetes, and memory fog (to mention some) instead of relying on chemical pills which only treat the symptoms because what is good for our body is also good for our brain.

Knowledge about ourselves gives us self-empowerment to master our mindset and take the right decisions for our bodies.

Some of the brain warrior supplements mentioned by Tana Amen are multiple vitamins, vitamin D, and omega 3 fatty acids. In addition, a healthy fish filled diet can help you get a healthy brain to optimize your overall mental health.

Daniel Amen and Tana Amen are your personal brain warrior guides to help you achieve a better mood, a healthy brain, and a healthy mind to defeat anxiety, memory loss, depression, obesity, and many more illnesses with their personal brain warrior tips.

If you are looking for a way to improve your mental and physical health, The Brain Warrior's Way Podcast is definitely worth checking out! I highly recommend it!

Killing the ANTs and Little Lies

Dr. Daniel Amen is a psychiatrist who has written extensively on the topic of automatic negative thoughts or ANTs. He believes that ANTs are the biggest obstacle to our happiness and success. According to Dr. Amen, ANTs are "dangerous little thoughts" that can hijack our brain and prevent us from achieving our goals. Dr. Amen talks about how the little lies we tell ourselves can justify actions that will damage brain and mental health. He identified seven different types of ANTs: all-or-nothing thinking, overgeneralizing, catastrophizing, mind reading, filtering, magnifying, and emotional reasoning. Learning to recognize and manage these ANTs is essential to living a happy and successful life. Thankfully, Dr. Amen has provided us with some simple techniques for doing just that. By taking control of our thoughts, we can take control of our lives.

Changing the way we think about fish with Jeff Tedmori Podcast Episode

During their conversation with Jeff Tedmori, founder of E-Fish, Dr. Daniel Amen and Tana Amen, Jeff explains how E-Fish was born and the mission behind it.

Daniel tells the story about growing up fishing. His family didn't have a passion for fishing or the ocean but his dad would always accompany him instead of going by himself with a bunch of old guys. From there, Daniel learn scuba diving which it then turned into sailing. Daniel likes the ocean because it allows him to mentally reset and relax. From this passion, the idea to combine fishing with a degree at MTI was born. Daniel's main mission is to preserve our world's ocean, to stop it from degrading further because that same ocean had given me a purpose as he saw firsthand pollution through overfishing.

At MTI, he learned of some issues within the seafood supply chat that could be fixed and there is where he connected the dots.

They are in business to help fishermen get their products directly to our at-home cooks, but also to help at-home cooks feel more confident working with seafood at home, especially the products they’ve never worked with before.
